The focus this week will be on macroeconomic data both domestically and globally. In India, Industrial Production (IIP) and retail inflation figures are set to be disclosed on February 12, followed by Wholesale Price Index (WPI) on February 14. Meanwhile, the United States will release Consumer Price Index (CPI) numbers on February 13, with retail sales data following on February 15.
Santosh Meena, Head of Research at Swastika Investmart Ltd, emphasized the importance of monitoring US bond yields, the dollar index, crude oil movements, and institutional investor flows alongside the concluding batch of Q3 earnings for potential stock-specific movements.
Several companies, including NHPC, SAIL, BHEL, Hindustan Copper, and Mahindra & Mahindra, are expected to announce their quarterly earnings this week.
Arvinder Singh Nanda, Senior Vice President at Master Capital Services Ltd, highlighted that the market would react to global and domestic economic data, investment patterns of Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) and Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs), crude oil inventories, rupee-dollar movement, and trends in the global stock market.
In the previous week, the BSE benchmark declined by 490.14 points (0.67%), and the Nifty dropped by 71.3 points (0.32%). Siddhartha Khemka, Head of Retail Research at Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd, expects the market to exercise caution and undergo consolidation in the short term, given the impending release of key macroeconomic data and the conclusion of Q3 results.
Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services, noted a prevailing sense of caution in the market ahead of the release of inflation data in the US, UK, and India.
